January 5th is National Bird Day! We have a wide selection of cuts in our print shop of birds but the one selected might be the largest one we have of the fowl variety. For today, Howard letterpress printed an image from an electrotype (copy of a woodcut) from the Al from New Jersey Collection. This solid lead cut is unmounted so it had to be placed on a block of wood to make it type high in order to print. The printed image depicts a large male turkey.
