Animals big and small take an active roll in their medical care here at the Zoo. For the crested wood partridges, the first step to being weighed is being introduced to a scale. To do so using positive reinforcement, our animal care team places mealworms (a favorite food) on the scale to entice the birds to interact with and, eventually, stand on the scale.
