Remembering Minnie Riperton, who was best known for her No1 1975 hit 'Lovin' You'. In early 1976 Minnie was diagnosed with breast cancer. She underwent a mastectomy but the cancer came back. Despite this, she went on recording and touring. In 1977 she became a spokesperson for the American Cancer Society, and in 1978 she received the American Cancer Society's Courage Award which was presented to her at the White House by President Jimmy Carter. Minnie died July 12, 1979 - she was just 31. | Mark
