Rocky Johnson, born in 1944, joined the WWF in the early 1980s after success in the NWA. In 1983, he and Tony Atlas, as “The Soul Patrol,” became the first African-American WWF World Tag Team Champions, holding the titles until 1984. After retiring in 1991, Rocky trained his son, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, helping him enter the WWF. He appeared occasionally, like at WrestleMania 13 in 1997, and was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 by The Rock, before passing away in 2020. Dwayne “The R
