The New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show saw a partial return to the traditional Scooby-Doo format. By 1977, Scooby-Doo wasn’t working for fans. 1977 and 1978 episodes rarely made it into 1980s reruns, minus a few standout episodes. There’s only so many times you can make the same episode with different villains and scenery, so Scooby-Doo was constantly evolving for better or worse. In 1979, Scrappy was added to Mystery, Inc, and that was the last time we saw Fred, Daphne, and Velma for a few years.
