Democrat Mikie Sherrill, who is running for governor of New Jersey, said fare hikes and new taxes can no longer pay for infrastructure improvements, but New Jersey still needs to come up with ways to fund projects and better service. Sherrill is calling for NJ Transit to have its own dedicated funding and plans to tap state-owned property for development, and even explore ads on transit vehicles, drawing contrast with New York’s MTA funding model. | CBS New York
