Jul 12, 2014 · So in the case of a sleeping bag liner, I can visualize the seams pulling apart wherever your feet and elbows yank on the lining. My 2 cents. Sep 4, 2014 at 2:32 pm #2132728
Sea to Summit Thermolite Reactor Extreme Liner
Aug 18, 2020 · Yeah, by itself, it’s barely a slumber-party, sleep in the 70F living room bag. Maybe on a Hawaii beach? In summer. As a liner, you certainly get another 10F, maybe, just maybe another 15F. No way do you get their claimed 25F. The weight and cost isn’t worth the warmth compared to just getting a higher rated bag/quilt.
Sleeping in a bag liner only - Backpacking Light
Apr 26, 2009 · I've slept in just a fleece sleeping bag liner before, and I got cold at 68 degrees. A little wind, and you can be in for an uncomfortable night. In the summer, I have taken an AMK Thermolite bivy and put the bag liner in it. It's a litte more comfortable with the liner than just sleeping in the Thermolite alone.

Feb 21, 2019 · In many ways, a lot like cotton, but to a lesser extent. (Merino wool is about the same.) It is a good compromise between the plasticky/wet feeling of any VBL liner and cloth of a sleeping bag at colder temps. I only mention this as a typical use of …

My sleeping bag liner is 7.7oz I am mainly using it to keep my sleeping bag clean. The added benefit though of using a baselayer is to be able to wear them when it gets cooler out during the day also.

Apr 23, 2010 · Mine's 4.5 oz, and unlike a fleece liner, stuffs right into my sleeping bag stuff sack along with my bag. Soooo, one strong vote for silk here. Apr 24, 2010 at 12:39 pm #1601586
sleeping bag liners - Backpacking Light
Feb 2, 2009 · I started out a few years ago using a silk sleeping bag liner, expecting it to add warmth to my 30* bag and to keep it clean. I had two problems with the liner: First, I would be so tangled up in it by morning that it would take up to five minutes to get unwound and out of my sleeping bag. Second, it added only a degree or two, at most, for warmth.
SOL Emergency Bivy vs. silk sleeping bag liner for extra warmth
Apr 18, 2012 · My 45F Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag is usually warm enough in summer months. However, I'd like to be prepared in case the temps unexpectedly drop to 32F, without carrying more weight than necessary of course. My first thought is to get a Sea to Summit silk sleeping bag liner, which should add 10F of warmth but costs $69, and weighs 4.8 ounces.

Dec 10, 2023 · Being a bag liner, it is cut slimmer than a true bivy sack: 54 in /140 cm circumference at the shoulder. Most bivys are > 70 in /175 cm. At 165 lbs/75 kg with a 20° F/-8° C quilt, I find it plenty roomy. If you are much larger or are …
