Feb 2, 2017 · I've seen Crater Lake from the top of Red Knob and it looks both remote and breathtaking. Getting up there for a night would be pretty awesome. That trailhead really does lend itself well to a loop hike with a number of options.

Around Lightning Lake in the Upper Rock Creek Basin, we did several find rock climbs on some of the nearby crags. There are some nice snow couloirs as well. The best may be on The Cathedral and I have added a route page for them. Another good one is above Lightning Lake headed towards Ostler Peak.

The next morning was the first real day of our Uinta Highline Trail (UHT) section-hike, and it featured around 6 hours of driving. We drove the 90 minutes to Hayden Pass and parked the rental car. Our shuttle driver picked us up and drove us another 4½ hours to Chepeta Lake.

Dec 7, 2009 · Crater Lake is above timberline and is one of the neatest lakes in the Uinta Mountains. Very spectacular. You need a good tent to camp there though since there isn't much cover. Have a good trip. I have done that trip, but in reverse.
