Former South Dakota State football QB and two-time national champion Mark Gronowski announced his commitment to Iowa on Tuesday.

Mark Gronowski, the prolific quarterback who led South Dakota State to two FCS national championships and to the semifinals this season, announced on social media Tuesday that he’ll play his final season at Iowa.

A native of Osseo, Minn., the 6-foot-3, 285 pound defensive tackle joins Iowa with three seasons of eligibility remaining. After appearing in just three games and redshirting during the 2023 campaign, Hawthorne burst onto the scene for the Jackrabbits this year.

Gronowski played four seasons for the Jackrabbits, leading the team to NCAA Division I FCS national championships during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Now, he's headed to the FBS and the Big Ten Conference.

IOWA CITY — Iowa football’s revamped quarterback room was punctuated by former South Dakota State star Mark Gronowski announcing his commitment to the Hawkeyes on Tuesday. Over the last few months, that position group has undergone serious remodeling.

Gronowski, the reigning FCS player of the year, entered the transfer portal last week and weighed playing one more college football season or entering the NFL. Four weeks ago, Gronowski accepted an invitation to compete in the East-West Shrine Bowl.
