Snow storms dumped snow on both ends of the country, but how much fell varied widely. Maps show snow totals across USA.
The snow came down particularly hard in areas north and east of the city. Several communities in the Hudson Valley and Connecticut recorded 9 inches.
In the Lower Hudson Valley and Long Island areas, the Weather Service predicted 6 to 11 inches. Forecasts called for the snowfall to begin to peak overnight and then taper off early Saturday.
Philly, Southeast Pennsylvania and parts of South Jersey are on the edge of the snow/sleet line, with shoveling snow possible. Roads will be dangerous in places from either snowpack or 2 to 10 inches of ice. These will change depending on the amount of warm air aloft or if the track of the storm changes.

Friday’s snow storm could produce a coating to a couple of inches, mostly south of the Mass Pike and southwest of Boston.
