UK's Starmer urges Labour party to unite for 'fight of our lives'
LIVERPOOL, England (Reuters) -British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on his party on Sunday to stop "navel gazing" and unite to defeat Reform UK, accusing the populist party of planning to launch a "racist policy" of mass deportations if it wins power.
Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves can be sure the bond markets have her back. But on Monday she faces down her own party, and she may find them tougher to win over.
Reeves faces tough questions on the UK's fiscal headroom, with the latest data showing government borrowing surged to £18bn in August.
