Roberts was sworn into office by Erie County Judge Stephanie Domitrovich on Aug. 12. He began his term on Aug. 13, the district said. He signed a five-year contract that was set to expire this year. In 2021, Roberts pled guilty to one count of unlawfully possessing a firearm in a vehicle.
