One 81-year-old woman became a first-time voter after years spent obeying her late husband, who didn’t want her to vote.

Betty Cartledge casts her very first vote on Wednesday in Georgia during early voting after he late husband did not let her vote for her entire life. Her husband died last year so she felt it was time to finally make her voice heard in this years election.

On Wednesday, an 81-year-old Georgia woman voted for the first time in her life following the death of her husband, who never wanted her to vote.
