A massive fire swept through a warehouse in Oakland Friday afternoon and spread to at least one other building and vehicles on the street.

As fireworks were set off in the region through the Fourth of July holiday weekend, several fires dotted the Bay Area into Friday night, though officials reported no fatalities and no life-threatening injuries.

Firefighters are actively battling a four-alarm fire at a warehouse on the 5200 block of 8th Street in Oakland.

The Madre Fire was reported shortly after noon Wednesday, July 2, along Highway 166 about 25 miles east of Santa Maria.

The Madre Fire is the largest wildfire in California in 2025 — surpassing the Los Angeles-area fires that devastated parts of the region in January.
