Two Southport businesses are closing their doors indefinitely following Saturday night’s deadly mass shooting.
The family has confirmed that a local woman was one of three people killed when a gunman opened fire at a waterfront bar in Southport.
According to ABC affiliate WWAY, Lennie Rogers said his wife Joy Rogers, 64, died in the shooting Saturday night. The couple moved to the coast about a year ago from California. Both were at the American Fish Company when shots were fired. In a statement obtained by WWAY, the Rogers family said:
This announcement comes after Southport Police announced the arrest of Nigel Edge in connection with the deadly shooting.
A 40-year-old man pulled up in a boat at American Fish Co., a spot for drinks and live music, and fired multiple shots into the crowd, police say.

A magistrates order says that Nigel Edge, 40, has been charged by Southport Police with three counts of first degree murder, five counts of attempted first degree murder, and five counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
