Most of southern California is currently under a tsunami advisory while Humboldt County and north of there is under a more severe tsunami warning, according to NOAA's map.

An NOAA map (below) shows the red zone stretch about 130 miles from its southernmost point at Cape Mendocino near Fortuna, California, to near Bandon, Oregon. The area reached as far as 15 miles inland at its deepest point at Cape Mendocino, which is located about 200 miles north of San Francisco.

A tsunami warning was issued for California's North Coast, after a massive earthquake off the coast of eastern Russia.
