FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) — The scramble to fill Mitch McConnell’s Senate seat in Kentucky began as soon as the long-serving Republican lawmaker revealed he won’t seek reelection in 2026.
Mitch McConnell has served seven terms in the US Senate and will end his tenure as the longest-serving senator in history.
It’s the sort of thing that would seem a bit much from most politicians, but I believe McConnell has loved being a senator.
None of the Republicans who have entered the race have mentioned McConnell, and they have mostly tried to distance themselves from him.
