A helicopter crash in South Jersey early Sunday afternoon sent first responders from several agencies to Hammonton amid reports of billowing black smoke. The Hammonton Fire Department, along with assisting agencies, responded to an “aviation-related incident” near Basin Road and White Horse Pike, the department said in a social media post.

Residents in Hammonton, New Jersey, raced to help when two helicopters collided and then crashed down in their neighborhood. One pilot died and another was critically injured in the crash, police said.
