Once again, the Auburn Tigers remain the top team in college basketball after narrowly nabbing a win over Tennesse

Auburn basketball proved last Saturday that any win is a good win. The No. 1 Tigers defeated No. 7 Tennessee, 53-51, on Saturday at Neville Arena despite shooting 31% from the field. Two of its offensive weapons, Denver Jones and Chad Baker-Mazara, were shut out from the field, and freshman Tahaad Pettiford shot 33% on the night.

The No. 7 Vols lost 53-51 to the No. 1 Tigers at Neville Arena, falling to 2-2 against No. 1 teams under coach Rick Barnes.

Texas Tech made its Top 25 season debut at No. 22 after beating Cincinnati and Oklahoma State to run its Big 12 winning streak to four games. Vanderbilt entered the poll at No. 24 for the first time since Dec. 7, 2015, as the women's team also cracked the poll this week for the first time since 2014.

The Big Ten Conference continued to showcase its strength in Monday's Associated Press Top 25. The Big Ten had five ranked teams while three other schools claimed votes in Monday's poll, nearly posting half of the conference with national recognition.
