Rutgers football's defense clearly has questions to answer but its offense showed signs of growth and promise.

The Scarlet Knights allowing nine-play, 75-yard touchdown drive from Kansas State, who retook the lead with a two-yard walk-in touchdown from quarterback Avery Johnson. The signal-caller shredded the Scarlet Knights to the tune of 195 yards and three touchdowns on 15-of-30 passing and 55 rushing yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.

Rutgers decided to pull a fast one during Thursday night’s Rate Bowl at Chase Field, and it worked to perfection.
