According to Bob Nightengale of USA Today, the Guardians were close to trading Steven Kwan to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the trade deadline. They were so close that a general manager said, "Everyone in baseball thought (the Dodgers) were getting Kwan."

The Los Angeles Dodgers shocked many around MLB and stood pat at the deadline, though manager Dave Roberts isn't too concerned.

"We're in a position where we're in first place, and I don't even think we've played our best baseball yet,” Dodgers GM Brandon Gomes said.
