A deportation order dated May 22, 2024, shows Des Moines Public Schools Superintendent Ian Roberts did not appear for an immigration hearing, resulting in a deportation order, according to a redacted order provided by U.S. Rep. Zach Nunn to KCCI.
According to a press release from ICE, Roberts is a Guyana National and was given a final order of removal by an immigration judge in May of 2024. DMPS said it did not have any knowledge of the order for removal. Roberts entered the United States in 1999 on a student visa, ICE said.
The federal Gun Control Act makes it unlawful for "illegal aliens" to ship, transport, receive or possess firearms or ammunition.
