HealthDay News — Drug overdose deaths decreased by 26.9 percent from 2023 to 2024, according to provisional data released May 14, 2025, from the National Center for Health Statistics.

With 87,000 drug overdose deaths reported from October 2023 to September 2024, this number is down from around 114,000 in the previous year.
