The Supreme Court has closed the case of illegal confinement against Isha Foundation, after two women testified they are living at the ashram voluntarily and without coercion.

A bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud pulled up the Madras High Court for ordering a police investigation based on the habeas corpus (produce the body) plea. "Madras High Court exceeded its jurisdiction by keeping the matter alive even after it recorded the statements of the two women,

A bench led by CJI Chandrachud, Justices Pardiwala and Misra, noted both women, aged 42 and 39, were staying at the ashram voluntarily.

The petition was filed by Dr S Kamaraj, a retired professor, alleging that his two daughters were being held captive at Isha Foundation in Coimbatore.
