The New York Giants' game plan made a ton of sense: rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart was being asked to rely mostly on the running game to avoid facing the Minnesota Vikings' vaunted pressure defense. In one regard, the plan worked on a day when both teams scuffled to find much success against each other's defense.

The Vikings (7-8) shut down rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and the Giants (2-13). New York finished with a meager 141 yards of offense, by far its lowest total of the season. Minnesota sacked Dart five times and intercepted him once, as the 22-year-old finished with just 33 yards on 7-of-13 passing.

Dart hasn’t had to go through last week’s disappointment alone. He’s had conversations with interim head coach Mike Kafka. He has also sought perspective from veteran quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston, both of whom have had their fair share of disappointing showings.

Giants offensive tackle Andrew Thomas exited in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against the Vikings with a hamstring injury, the team announced. His return is questionable. Thomas went down early in the second quarter and walked off the field without assistance before leaving for the locker room. Marcus MBow replaced him at left tackle.
