Police are investigating after firefighters responding to a Red Bird area apartment fire Thursday morning discovered a man dead inside, officials said. Dallas Fire-Rescue was called at about 7:13 a.m.

When firefighters arrived, they saw smoke coming from a unit on the first floor and were able to quickly access and extinguish the blaze.
