Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney won a vote on his budget in Parliament that could have triggered a possible election.

In a tense, nail-biting vote, Carney narrowly secured his first budget in the House of Commons through the help of four MPs who abstained, including two from the NDP.

Members of Parliament voted 170 to 168 on the confidence motion that could have toppled the minority government and triggered a federal election.
