While the mayoral race in New York City dominated national headlines, some local cities also selected their next mayors on Tuesday.

Multiple cities in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts will head to the polls today including Providence, Central Falls, Fall River and Taunton.

For the first time in at least 15 years, the state is sending letters to every registered voter in Rhode Island to determine if they are still alive, and if they are still living at the address on their voter registration.

Election Day has arrived for the four Democrats pursuing Providence’s Ward 2 City Council opening. The Nov. 4 primary will narrow the race down to one Democratic candidate and one Republican candidate who will compete in the general election on Dec. 2.

Multiple cities in both Rhode Island and Massachusetts went to the polls on Tuesday for the 2025 Election. Providence Ward 2 voters decided the Democratic nominee for a city council seat left vacant after Helen Anthony stepped down in September to focus on her health.

Providence City Councilor Sue AnderBois is set to kick off her campaign for lieutenant governor Wednesday, making her the third candidate seeking the Democratic nomination next year.
