Conan O'Brien is preparing to host the Academy Awards as much of Los Angeles is still reeling from wildfires that ravaged parts of the city earlier this month.

Jay Leno was warned by his “Tonight Show” predecessor Johnny Carson that hosting the Oscars was “a no-win situation.”
