Tennessee softball will face No. 6 seed Texas in the semifinals of the Women's College World Series on June 2. The Lady Vols beat UCLA to advance.

Texas will vie for the first softball national championship in school history after beating Tennessee in the Women's College World Series semifinals.

UCLA forced extra innings after a base-running mistake was ruled unreviewable, but the Volunteers pulled out the victory in the ninth.

The Lady Vols nearly eliminated the Bruins off a technicality, after a batter forgot to step on home plate, before finishing the job in the 9th inning.

The record for most-watched Women's College World Series game is held, incidentally, by Tennessee and Arizona. The Wildcats shut out the Volunteers 5–0 in Game 3 to win the 2007 national title before a TV audience of 2.3 million.
