Indian ride-hailing firm Ola Consumer on Friday said it does not set fares based on a user's phone model, a day after global rival Uber denied allegations of differential pricing for Android and Apple phones.

Ola and Uber said they did not differentiate in setting prices after the government sent notices to the cab aggregators over reports of the companies appearing to charge different fares for the same service depending on the type of phone.

App-based cab service aggregators Uber and Ola have rejected claims that they charge varying prices based on users' phone models. They clarified the issue on Friday saying they did not set fares based on a user's phone model after the government sent notices to them over alleged differential pricing based on the type of mobile device used to book rides.

Several consumers claimed that the platforms were showing different prices for the same rides when booked from different kinds of mobile handsets. .
