Parents enrolling children in Oklahoma public schools will be required to provide proof of their child’s U.S. citizenship or legal immigration status under a proposal rule approved by the State Board of Education.

Oklahoma may require parents to report their immigration status when enrolling children in schools. “We're not going to allow sanctuary schools here in Oklahoma,” Superintendent of Public Instruction Ryan Walters told CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Tuesday afternoon.

The rule would not block undocumented students from enrolling, but it would supply the Trump administration with information to aid immigration enforcement.
