Only hours after the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas was announced, Tel Aviv launched a volley of attacks on Gaza City, killing at least 46 people. Gaza Civil Defense said that more than 20 were killed in a strike on a residential block and a separate attack took away 15 lives and injured 20 others.

The deal, mediated by the United States, offered a glimmer of hope in a conflict that has taken an immense human toll.
