House Speaker Mike Johnson will hold onto his position as head of the chamber after Republicans cast their votes in his favor. President-elect Donald Trump threw his support behind Johnson.

Congress returned Friday, voting to reelect House speaker Mike Johnson after some Republican holdouts changed their votes.

Only one Republican representative has confirmed that he will oppose Mike Johnson’s return as House speaker, but a few other conservatives have remained undecided.

"I'd say there's a 70% chance Mike Johnson is going to be speaker ... because that's just the way the swamp works," Congressman Thomas Massie said.
