California's governor called upon the state's cities and counties to ban homeless encampments this week, even providing blueprint legislation for dismantling the tents lining streets, parks and waterways throughout much of the state.

Saying that there are no more excuses, California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday released a model ordinance for local municipalities to address homeless encampments, along with announcing new funding for treatment and housing.

The governor said Tuesday that he will propose expanding the California Department of Health Services’ ability to buy brand-name and generic drugs like mifepristone.
