ITV has officially announced its drama about the U.K.’s phone-hacking scandal and investigation, a seven-part series now entitled “The Hack” and written by multi award-winner Jack Thorne. The unveiling of the first look from “The Hack” - which shot last year - comes just a week after the hacking controversy concerning Rupert Murdoch’s U.

EXCLUSIVE: The timing couldn’t be better. Just a week after Rupert Murdoch’s shock apology and settlement with Prince Harry, ITV has unveiled a phone hacking drama series from Jack Thorne starring David Tennant as investigative journalist Nick Davies.

The upcoming seven-part ITV series The Hack was written by the BAFTA, Tony and Olivier award winning screenwriter, Jack Thorne, best known for his work on the This is England miniseries’, His Dark Materials and the Enola Holmes film series.

ITV has announced The Hack, a seven-part drama tackling one of the biggest media scandals of recent times.

Tennant takes on the role of real-life investigative journalist Nick Davies, who uncovered evidence of phone hacking at Rupert Murdoch’s News of the World. The scandal led to the closure of the newspaper and the imprisonment of its ex-editor Andy Coulson.

David Tennant is to take the lead in a new ITV drama from the team that created the award-winning Mr Bates vs. The Post Office. The former Doctor Who star is set to play investigative journalist Nick Davies in The Hack, a new seven-part series which will tell of the phone-hacking scandal.
