Illinois state trooper killed while clearing debris on I-55 in suburban Chicago
Trooper Clay M. Carns, 35, was outside his squad car clearing debris from a lane on Interstate 55 near Channahon at about 9:42 p.m., according to the Illinois State Police. Officials said his emergency lights were activated when he was struck by a passing vehicle.
