The wreck happened around 6:45 a.m. on southbound Highway 17 just south of Sugarloaf Road. That direction of the highway remained shut down as of 5 p.m., with the CHP warning in a social media post that the closure could extend through the night. Southbound traffic was being diverted to the left lane of northbound Highway 17.
