Protests are being planned in Rhode Island against the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), as part of a nationwide wave of demonstrations organized by progressive groups.

Kenneth Kalu ’27, a student who spoke at the rally outside of the Rock, told The Herald that he was protesting “in solidarity” with both Providence and Minneapolis — two communities that have been “victimized” by ICE activity, he said.

Crowds gathered across the U.S. on Friday to protest immigration enforcement actions.

Hundreds of protesters, including students from nearby high schools, gathered at Sasscer Park in Santa Ana and then walked downtown to Ross Street.
