During the final Austin-hosted pageant, Megan West, representing Winona, was crowned Miss Minnesota 1998. In 2008, West was one of the judges who selected McDermott as Miss Minnesota.

Shalyn Melissa Barnes, an 18-year-old Lecanto High student, was named Miss Citrus County Saturday night.
