Hong Kong’s first-ever discovery of dinosaur fossils has challenged traditional beliefs that finding the remains of ancient organisms is difficult in a small city with a history of volcanoes and rapidly changing geology, according to experts.

Officials in Hong Kong said Wednesday they have discovered dinosaur fossils in the city for the first time on a remote, uninhabited island that's part of a geopark.

Their origin: from the Cretaceous period about 145 million to 66 million years ago, and believed to be the bones of a large-aged dinosaur.
