Weather NYC: Up to 5 inches of snow possible this weekend l Forecast, timing and impacts
The NYC area, including parts of NJ and CT, could get hit with several inches of snow this weekend. Here's a first look at the timeline and predicted totals.
Acting Governor Tahesha Way declared that New Jersey will enter a state of emergency at 1 p.m. today, Snow accumulations are expected to reach 5 to 8 inches in parts of the state, with temperatures remaining below freezing throughout the weekend. Executive Order No. 409 declares the State of Emergency across all 21 counties in New Jersey.
Multiple winter weather advisories are in effect across western and central New York from Friday morning through early Saturday, according to the National Weather Service in Buffalo, with snow, sleet and freezing rain expected to make travel hazardous.

A rare winter storm is set to slam New York with a warning issued for the first time in four years covering the city
Residents are urged to complete travel before 6 p.m. Friday as a storm bringing 4-to-8 inches of snow and wind gusts up to 50 mph moves eastward across the state.
Areas in New York could see over 10 inches of snow, while other parts, like those surrounding Buffalo, could see between 1 and 4 inches, according to the National Weather Service. Peak snowfall rates could be as high as 1 to 2 inches per hour, and rates can be greater than 2 inches per hour.
NYC's weather forecast includes a chance of snow followed by rising temperatures and rain, with fluctuating conditions expected through New Year's Day.
Central Park got more than four inches of snow for the first time since January 2022, with higher totals outside New York City.
