Despite the dangerous February cold, this winter in the Twin Cities is still tracking to be fairly average compared to past winters.

Des Moines Public Schools will start two hours late on Tuesday because of wind chills that could feel as cold as minus 25 degrees.

Saturday: Mostly sunny & less wind with highs in the low to mid 30s. Sunday: Partly sunny, light wind, seasonable. Highs near 40. Monday: Increasing clouds with late rain & snow showers at night.

Cold air and strong winds will move in Tuesday night, bringing dangerous wind chill temperatures and possible snow, said the National Weather Service.
