Mexican pop singer José José, considered to be one of the most prolific Latin balladeers of his generation, has died. He was 71.

Born José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz, the singer made a name for himself in 1970, when he performed “El Triste” at the Festival de la Canción Latina, according to CNN.
