At decade's end, the three most valuable cards of the 1980s all came from the same set: 1984 Fleer Update. Ultimately, this set reflected a perfect storm in the Hobby.

Until 1980, Topps was the sole producer of baseball cards, but the entry of Donruss and Fleer in 1981 transformed the market and expanded the hobby to a wider audience.

Early printings of Littlefield's card featured a reversed image, quickly corrected, that remains the toughest 1982 Fleer card out there for collectors of the master set.
