Nearly 12K Minnesotans apply for paid leave after law went into effect
Tens of thousands of Minnesotans have applied for Paid Leave, which gives employed residents up to 12 weeks of paid family or medical leave a year.
According to DEED, as of the end of the day on Thursday, 11,883 Minnesotans had applied for paid leave, with most of them for “newborn bonding."

Minnesotans can now file applications for the state's new paid leave program. The application window is open now ahead of the program's Jan. 1 launch. The new law allows for up to 20 weeks of leave in a single year.
