The Marlin Dark Series Model 1895 is a substantial step forward for the lever gun and everything the original Dark Series should have been.

They didn’t run Marlin very well, but in 2009 they did introduce the model 1895 SBL in .45/70. It was a better thought-out version of Marlin’s popular Guide Gun.

Marlin introduced a new addition to its Model 1894 series in 2019 with the 1894 Dark, which brings a tactical edge to the classic lever-action rifle.
