Starting Friday, drivers will need to shell out a little bit more money to park in metered spaces throughout San Diego.

Located less than a mile north of downtown San Diego, Little Italy can be visited at any time, though specific business hours vary. There are a number of fee-charging parking structures in the area.

Increased parking fees took effect Wednesday at some meters and pay stations at San Diego Bay, although numerous free parking areas are still available, according to the Port of San Diego.
