Michelle Manu never thought she would become a kumu of the ancient and secretive Hawaiian martial art of Lua, but now she's teaching a new generation how to connect with their warrior within.

But she’s best known around the world as the leading female teacher of the ancient Hawaiian warrior art called Lua. “I am a kumu lua of the Kaihewalu lua lineage,” she said.

I ka wâ ma mua (komo) nâ haumâna a pau i loko o ka hula. Keone trained under Kumu Hula Darrel Lupenui, and learned the joint history of hula and lua from Darrel's mom, Muriel.
