KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is partnering with a commercial suborbital space-flight venture planning to operate out of the Caribbean island of Curacao, officials said on Thursday.

For its part, KLM has bought a handful of Curacao-based space flights it plans to give away over the coming years. This weekend’s losing contestants will no doubt have another shot.

The carrier will offer a handful of advance tickets for sub-orbital space flights that are expected to offered as early as 2014 by Space Experience Curaçao, a space-tourism company.

The deal will also see KLM marketing and selling flights operated by Space Experience Curacao, which use a Lynx suborbital spacecraft provided by California-based XCOR.
